Chalk Group Lithostratigraphy: Northern England - Maidland Tilestone

Recognised by Mitchell (1994), it comprises a c. 1.8 m thick unit of thin-bedded (c. 0.1 m) chalk, conspicuous in cliff sections, and containing an acme of the crinoid Uintacrinus socialis.
