DIRECTORS: F. Fane De Salis, F.G.S. and H. W. MONCKTON Treas. L.S., F.G.S.

Outward train Waterloo, 1.20 p.m.; due. Sunningdale, 2.16 p.m. Take single tickets, 1s. 11½d.

Return train Virginia Water, 7.19 p.m ; due at Waterloo, 8 p.m. Fare, 1s. 8d.

Arrangements will be made for tea.

Walk south by way of Sunningdale Golf Links to Chobham Common. At the links note pebbles on surface derived from the bed at the base of the Barton Series,. ("Memoir," p. 55).

A sand-pit near a clump of pines north of Chobham Place shows a section in Barton Beds, Upper Bagshot Sands, with a little Plateau Gravel at the surface. Walk east across the common, visiting such exposures in the Bracklesharn Beds, Middle Bagshot Sands, as may be open at the time. Fossils are rare in the Bagshot Beds of the London Basin, but in all probability casts of shells will be found ("Memoir," p. 47.)

A short halt, will be made at the clump of pines west of Albury Bottom, from which there is an excellent view of the district. Attention will be drawn to the relation of the existing Flora to the Geological Formations (see A. G. Tansley, "Types of British Vegetation," 1911; Oak-Birch-Heath Association, p. 100, and Heath Association, p. 103).

Walk north, crossing the Reading Branch Line near Ship Hill to Portnall Park, where an excellent section in the Bagshot Beds, Lower Bagshot Sands ("Memoir" p. 36), is exposed at the Rifle Range of the City of London National Guard. If time permits, some pits in the Plateau Gravel at Portnall can be visited.
