All files uploaded to EarthwiseTM must have the appropriate copyright selected under 'Licensing' in the upload form below.

To upload a file to EarthwiseTM:
- Before uploading, please ensure that all BGS internal images are uploaded to Imagebase on the Intranet to acquire a 'P' number.
- Choose the source file. Using JPEG format for photographs, GIF for animations, SVG for images with a vector source, and PNG for other images is recommended.
- Edit the destination filename below. Use the BGS 'P' number filename if the image is from Imagebase, e.g. P001267.jpg instead of Edinburgh city.jpg. You will not be able to change the filename once you've uploaded the file.
- Provide detailed information on the subject of the image (what is shown) and the source of the file (author, date, source and permission) in the text box. If you made the image by yourself, state this explicitly. If you obtained the image from somewhere on the web, please include the URL where it can be obtained.
- Select the appropriate license from the dropdown box. If you are unsure or non of the fields apply, please contact the EarthwiseTM team.
After uploading the file, insert it in relevant pages using the syntax [[Image:Filename.jpg|thumb|Caption]]

To view or search previously uploaded files go to the list of uploaded files, (re)uploads are also logged in the upload log, deletions in the deletion log.
To include a file in a page, use a link in one of the following forms:
[[File:File.jpg]]
to use the full version of the file[[File:File.png|200px|thumb|left|alt text]]
to use a 200 pixel wide rendition in a box in the left margin with 'alt text' as description[[Media:File.ogg]]
for directly linking to the file without displaying the file
