Range of index species: Co-extensive with zone as currently defined (Christensen, 1995).

Biostratigraphical correlation: Equates with an interval in the lower to middle part of the B. mucronata Zone s.l.

Lithostratigraphical correlation: Equates with Pre-Weybourne Chalk 5 and Weybourne Chalk 1-3 (excluding the Catton Sponge Bed) (Christensen, 1995).

Age: Upper Campanian.
