Inspectors (and therefore BGS) have the right to the production of and to inspect, 'any registers, books, plans or other documents...which are required to be kept'. BGS is entitled to take copies of plans data and has exercised this right on a regular basis over the years. Substantial sections of the Mines and Quarries Act 1954 have now been repealed including those relating to plans and records. These are now covered by new regulations in the Management and Administration of Safety and Health at Mines Regulations 1993.
