Train leaves Liverpool St. (G.E.R..) 11.45 a.m. arriving at Bentley Station 1.38 p.m. Special return fares 7s. 2d. each. Members should if possible give Mr. Double notice of their intention to join this excursion, and should also provide themselves with lunch. If the collection of fossils be intended (for which the excursion affords special facilities) suitable boxes, etc., will be necessary.

Proceed eastward along main road to Tattingstone, visiting pits in the Red Crag on each side of the road, some 300 yards E. of Station (Dane's Barn, etc.). Examine stackyard pit at Tattingstone Hall (Park Farm), where Red Crag is now to be seen resting unconfonuably on a Coralline Crag bank. This section was figured and described by Prestwich (see below), but has been more or less obscured for many years. Compare section now showing with that figured by Prestwich in 1871 and by the Director in 1907. The Coralline Crag is quite comminuted, and with the cutting back of the pit for agricultural purposes, is being quarried away.

Take footpaths to other Red Crag pits near the White Horse Hill, Tattingstone, and after tea visit section near Rookery Farm.

Mr. Hugh Turner, of Bentley, has kindly invited the party to tea.

Mernbers will be furnished with geological maps of the district on the excursion.

Total walking distance 6 miles.

Return train (specially stopped for the party) 7.45 pm. Bentley, arriving 9.25 p.m. Liverpool St.
