Leave Cannon Street 1.0 p.m.; arrive at Chilworth 2.38. Special return tickets 3s. each. Meet Excursion Secretary under clock, Cannon Street Station, not later than 12.45.

Walk eastwards from Chilworth along the main road to Albury. A good view can be obtained, from several points, of St. Martha's Hill, in the southern face of which all the divisions of the Lower Greenland, present in this part of Surrey, at represented.

The succession is as follows: Upper Ferruginous or Folkestone Sand, Pebbly Sand, Bargate Stone, Chert Beds, Lower Ferruginous Sand, Atherfield Clay.

With the exception of the Atherfield Clay, exposures of all the above will be seen during the afternoon. It has been stated that the Cherts (so largely developed to the south) are not present here, and one of the objects of this excursion is to show that an attenuated rePresentmive of these beds can be seen at two places on the hill underlying the Bargate Stone.

Turn from the main road at Waterloo Pond, and visit a good section in the Lower Ferruginous Sands. Thence walk southwards through Albury to Blackheath Lane, when the road cutting shows Bargate Stone resting on Chert Beds. Return through Alhary to Dalton Hill, where a section similiar to the last can be seen. This is on the extreme east end of St, Martha's Hill.

Proceed to the top of the hill, from which, if the weather is fine, a splendid view can be obtained.

Descend the hill on the opposite side and visit a pit, just south of Tyting Farm, in the Upper Ferruginous or Folkestone Sand, Proceed southwards to Great Halfpenny Lane. Here, all the divisions, from the Pebbly Sands down to the Lower Ferrugins Sands, are exposed in various parts of the lane. Thence return to Chilworth.

Fragments of derived Jurassic Ammonites, fish teeth, and portions of vertebix can be found among the pebbles in the Bargate Stone and beds below.

Walking distance 5 miles.

Tea at the Percy Arms, Chilworth. (9d., or with eggs 1s.)

Return train, Chilworth, 7.56 p.m., arriving at Cannon Street, 9.35 p.m.
