Leave Liverpool Street Station (G.E.R.) at 10 a.m.

Arrive Sudbury at 11.46.

To obtain cheap return tickets, 6/8, meet Excursion Secretary in Main Line Booking Office not later than 9.45. Members should provide themselves with sandwiches for Lunch.

Walk to Little Cornard Brick-pits. See large transported masses of Chalk, imbedded in a clay, which rests against current-bedded sands and gravels, the whole seeming to occupy a side-channel of the ancient river-valley. Thanet Beds are seen at the entrance and Woolwich and Reading Beds in a neighbouring pit..

Return through Sudbury, walk over Ballingdon Bridge, to Sand-pit on Balling.. don Hilt View across Stour Valley, observing pits visited in April, 1910. The pit shows Boulder-clay resting on a considerable thickness of bedded Sands. Thence down into Ballingdon Great Chalk Pit, where are Chalk, Thanet Beds, with some Woolwich and Reading Beds, all at a lower level than the bedded Sands. Cross the road into Ballingdon Grove Brick-pits. were see that current-bedded gravels, sands, and Boulder-clay lie against the side of the old river-valley excavated out of Chalk, Thanets, etc., and that portions of Boulder-clay are imbedded in the gravels.

Return across river to Sudbury. A small collection of rocks from the gravels will be inspected if time permits.

Tea at The Four Swans, Sudbury, price, plain 1s. each with eggs or hat and beef 1s. 6d. each.

Return train at 6.30 p.m., arriving Liverpool Street 9.8 p.m.

Walking distance about 8 miles.

Several of the sections, particularly those at Little Cornard, are we'll worth photographing.
