Summary

description
English: Figure 6 Schematic illustration of the reconstructed burial and exhumation history for well 47/25-1, derived from AFTA and VR data. This history is based on compacted sedimentary rock thicknesses, for simplicity, and highlights only the major features, viz: no detectable Variscan effects; maximum burial depths in the Palaeocene, with 600–1000 m of additional Late Cretaceous section removed during Cainozoic exhumation; rapid exhumation in the Early Cainozoic, followed by further deposition of Palaeogene units and a Late Miocene episode of exhumation (based on arguments discussed in the text related to the Flamborough outlier). Note that the most recent episode is not revealed by AFTA data in this well, and should be regarded as speculative. Delineation of this aspect of the history forms a focus of continuing work in the region.
