1832 Born Dublin. Educated at Trinity College, Dublin. (Diploma in Engineering). Worked for a few years with Sir R. Griffith on the general Valuation of Ireland.
1854 Joined Geological Survey, Irish branch.
Most important work in Cork. Subsequently selected by J.B. Jukes (local Director) to work with him in Devon and Cornwall; on Igneous of Limerick; and Coalfields of Queen’s County, Tipperary.
Memoir on Tipperary Coalfield (with A.B. Wynne and G.H. Kinahan).
Last fieldwork in County Galway, then transferred to Dublin as Secretary on retirement of John Kelly.
1883 Died April 13th in Dublin (succeeded in office by A.B. Wynne).
