Biostratigraphical correlation: Equates with the T. lata Zone of current usage. Jukes-Browne & Hill (1904) selected the base of the Bridgewick Flints as the base of the S. plana Zone, rather than the slightly higher Bridgewick Marl used by Rowe (1900) (Wood, WH/95/31R).

Lithostratigraphical correlation: Equates with the New Pit Chalk Formation and lower part of the Lewes Nodular Chalk Formation in southern England.
