Major groundwater projects in Malawi

Some of the major groundwater projects that have been carried out in Malawi include:

JICA

JICA (the Japanese International Cooperation Agency) has funded groundwater projects in Malawi, including revising the National Water Resources Master Plan.

On the JICA website is a list of many other JICA reports relating to water and agriculture in Malawi.

Climate Justice Fund

The Scottish Government funds the Climate Justice Fund Water Futures Programme, which is led by the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland. There are a number of projects in the programme, including mapping of water infrastructure (including groundwater sources) and capacity building in groundwater resource management practices, such as hydrogeological studies and borehole drilling practices. From the programme webpage, a number of case studies share the results of these projects.
