From Dixey, F. 1957. Colonial Geological Surveys 1947–1956: a review of progress during the past ten years. Colonial geology and mineral resources. Bulletin supplement No. 2. London: HMSO.

Windward Islands

Samples from St. Vincent submitted by the Administrator for examination by the Mineral Resources Division regarding their suitability for building materials were found to consist of volcanic ashes suitable for making pozzolanic cement. During 1951 the reserves were assessed by a geologist who was seconded from British Guiana; a scheme for utilising the deposit is under consideration. A detailed geological survey of the Windward Islands, financed from Colonial Development and Welfare funds, has recently been commenced by Mr. P. H. A. Martin-Kaye, on secondment from British Guiana.
