Excursion to Lyme Regis.—Easter, 1906, Friday, April 13th to Tuesday, April 17th

Headquarters, Royal Lion Hotel, Lyme Regis. Tariff for bed and attendance, breakfast; luncheon sandwiches and dinner, 8s. 6d. per day. Sleeping accommodation being limited at Lyme, the proprietor will make a'' ''reduction of 1s. per day to those Members who consent to share a bedroom with another Member. All Members will take their meals in the Royal Lion Hotel, as many as possible will be accommodated at that hotel, the remainder sleeping at the Alexandra Hotel, or at other houses close by.

Special railway tickets, available to return from Seaton, can be had from the Secretary, price 16s. each. Those members who cannot stay the whole time, or who travel by other than the official train, should take ordinary week-end tickets to Lyme Regis, price 15s. 9d.

All Members proposing to join the excursion must notify the Excursion Secretary ''without delay, ''enclosing stamped and addressed post-card for acknowledgment, stating whether they require a separate bedroom.

Members should be prepared for rough and even dirty walking, and should provide themselves with lunch each day.

Examine sections of Greensand, Gault, and subdivisions of the Lower Lias from the zone of ''Ammonites raricostatus ''to that of ''A. angulatus. ''Return along shore by the Church Cliffs to Lyme Regis. Total walking distance about five miles.

Drive to Morecombelake (about 4 miles).

Ascend Hardown Hill (662 feet), fine sections of Greensand Chert-beds and of sands with fossils.

Return by Morecombelake (Inn) and walk by the Saint's Well to Stanton St. Gabriel, and thence to the coast at Golden Cap (619 feet).

Examine cliffs showing higher beds of Lower Lias (Belemnite Beds, and zone of ''Ammonites capricornus), ''and lower beds of Middle Lias (zone of ''Ammonites ' margaritatus). ''Proceed along coast to Seatown, "Anchor Inn" (for tea).

Drive back to Lyme Regis.

Total walking distance about 5 miles. Cost of drive, 2s. 6d.

Walk by field path to The Warren, a picturesque under-cliff. Inland are Ware t Cliffs of Upper Greensand, capped by Chalk, but inaccessible. Thence to Pinhay Cliff and Chapel Rock (by kind permission of W. Allhusen, Esq.), where Chalk of the zones of ''Terebratulina gracilis, Hobster planus, ''and ''Micraster cor-testudinarium, ''is well exposed. Chapel Rock is a lofty detached mass which has slipped from the main face of Pinhay Cliff.

Next proceed half-a-mile west to the Great Cleft, a recently formed slip which affords a section of Upper Greensand, Cenomanian limestone, and Chalk of ''Rhynchonella cuvieri ''and ''Terebratulina gracilis ''zones.

Descend to shore at Pinhay Bay, examine the White Lias (Rhmtic), and return by shore below West Cliff to Lyme Regis, examining sections of basement-beds of Lower Lias (zone of ''Ammonites planorbis ''to zone of ''A. semicostatus).''

Total walking distance 6 miles.

Breakfast 8 a.m. Leave Royal Lion Hotel at 9.15 a.m., and walk to railway station. Book luggage to Waterloo or other destination, as the 'party will not return to Lyme Regis.

Train 940 a.m. Book to Combe Pyne. About 3d.

Walk to Rousdon and Charton Bay ; see section of Rhmtic beds. Then proceed by Dowlands Cliffs (good exposure of ''T. gracilis ''Chalk) and Landslips, to the Great Landslip of 1839 in Bindon Cliffs, Walk through the Landslip and thence by footpath on top of cliffs to Seaton.

Total walking distance about 7 miles.

Leave Seaton by the 3.52 p.m. train. Change at Seaton Junction. Change again at Yeovil Junction into London Express. Dinner on train (optional) each, usual charge 3/6. Arrive Waterloo 8.7 p.m.
