Above an interval of shelf margin wedge deposits at Folkestone, Jukes-Browne Bed 7 and an underlying marl with abundant ''Pycnodonte vesiculare'', are interpreted as a transgressive systems tract (Gale et al., 1999). The change to relatively pure carbonate higher in the succession and loss of conspicuous rhythmicity (e.g. the 'White Bed' of the North Downs) is indicative of a highstand (Gale et al., 1999).
