{{Information
|description={{|1=Specimen of roofing slate quarried from Easdale Island, Argyllshire, Scotland. Small'undersized'Easdale Slate showing common cubes of pyrite and a strong'grain'on the surface. The dark grey colour is typical of slates from Basdale and Ballachulish, sometimes described as West Highland'blue'slates. The specimen is of Precambrian, Dalradian age. British Geological Survey Petrology Collection sample number EMC 5734. The'grain'of a slate is a term used by the quarrymen to describe the protruding linear striations on a slate surface, geologically termed a'crenulation lineation'. The term'Old Easdale'on the label probably refers to the particular quarry seam from which this slate was obtained. There were a number of quarries in the Easdale Slate belt, often termed the'Slate Islands'. Specimen size: 24x16cm. P519558.}}
