{{Information
|description={{|1=Specimen of roofing slate quarried from Cullipool, Argyllshire, Scotland. Dark grey slate with a rough crenulated surface and large yellow pyrite crystals. The specimen is of Precambrian, Dalradian age. British Geological Survey Petrology Collection sample number EMC 5742. The surface'grain'of this sample is strongly developed and makes the slate harder to split, thereby reducing its quality. Cullipool quarries on the island of Luing, south of Easdale village, form part of the Easdale Slate belt. The main Scottish slate belts are the Ballachulish Slate belt on the south and north side of Loch Leven, probably the best-known Scottish slate; Easdale Slate belt (also known as the `Slate Islands?) extending across various islands for 20 miles north of Jura towards Oban; Highland Border belt (known collectively as the `Aberfoyle Slates?) extending along the northern side of the Highland Boundary Fault running from Arran, through Bute, Luss, Aberfoyle, Comrie and Logiealmond to Dunkeld, to the east coast north of Stonehaven; Banff-Aberdeen belts including the `Macduff Slates? which stretch southwards from Macduff to south of Huntly; and smaller outcrops around Keith, Dufftown and Tomintoul. Specimen size: 28x20cm. P519566.}}
