{{Information
|description={{|1=Specimen of roofing slate from Old Quarry, Ballachulish, Argyllshire, Scotland. This specimen is relatively thick with a rough surface, caused by the presence of a crenulation cleavage which produces lineations on the slate surface. The dark sooty staining indicates the slate has been used on a roof for many years, and despite this the cubic crystals of pyrite appear relatively fresh. The specimen is of Precambrian, Dalradian age. British Geological Survey Petrology Collection sample number EMC 5752. The slate is cut and dressed in the Scots style with a'squared and shouldered'outline and a single nail hole at the top. Typically, the colour of the Ballachulish slate is dark grey with an even surface but shows well-marked grain in places. It has a medium texture. Pyrites (`diamonds?) are fairly abundant and of moderate size (1/8 - 3/16 inches). Specimen size: 33x17cm. P519576.}}
