{{Information
|description={{|1=Specimen of roofing slate from building at Lochailort, Lochaber, Scotland. A full size West Highland slate used for roofing farm buildings in Lochaber around 1900, probably from the Easdale Slate belt. The slate is roughly cut and dressed and has a single nail hole at the head, typical of the Scots style. The specimen is of Precambrian, Dalradian age. British Geological Survey Petrology Collection sample number EMC 5753. The slate has a very strong lineation (or'grain') running along its length. Pyrite is common on the surface, some of which shows'rusty'staining. Despite this the slate is in very good condition for having been on a roof in the Scottish West Highlands for approximately a hundred years. Scottish slates have not been quarried on a signiicant scale since the 1950s. High quality Scottish slates such as this can be reused, and may well last for another hundred years, or more. Specimen size: 39x26cm. P519577.}}
