{{Information
|description={{|1=Specimen of graphitic slate from north-east point of Scarba, Argyllshire, Scotland. Very dark-coloured slate with a rough, disturbed cleavage surface caused by folding and crenulation. The unusually dark colour is caused by the presence of black graphite (carbon) in the slate. The poor quality of the cleavage in this particular sample would have rendered it useless as a roofing slate. The specimen is of Precambrian, Dalradian age. British Geological Survey Petrology Collection sample number EMC 851. The island of Scarba lies to the south of Easdale, on the northern tip of the island of Jura. The easternmost side of Scarba is composed of the Easdale Slate, which continues southwards outcropping along parts of the eastern side of Jura. It is not known whether the slate outcrops of Scarba were ever exploited, but several quarries exist on Jura. Specimen size: 11x9cm. P519644.}}
