The Capel-le-Ferne Member (stratotype: Abbotts Cliff path [TR 268 385]), 15.8 m thick at Abbotts Cliff,  comprises almost featureless, subtlely bioturbated white chalk, with localised shell debris, especially near the base (Robinson, 1986). The base of the member is marked by a 'distinct break' at the top of the underlying Hay Cliff Member, and the top of the unit is the erosion surface beneath the Plenus Marls Formation (Robinson, 1986).

Macrofossil Biozonation: the greater part of the C. guerangeri Zone (Robinson, 1986).
