Where undivided, Jukes-Browne & Hill (1903) described this unit as hard, white, shelly and gritty limestone or very hard, calcareous grit, with a layer of green-coated, locally phosphatised, nodules at the top. The coral-like sponge Acanthochaetetes ramulosus ( formerly Ceriopora ramulosa ) is a characteristic fossil (Jukes-Browne & Hill, 1903).
