Chalk Group Lithostratigraphy: Northern England - Hall Farm Marl

A thin (less than 5mm) marl immediately underlain by a rubbly, locally iron-stained and indurated chalk bed; an association that makes it a conspicuous marker in quarry sections (Gaunt et al., 1992). The marl is named after the farm adjacent to Melton Ross Quarry [TA 082 112] (Gaunt et al., 1992).
