Geologist, retired from Edinburgh University. Interested in the geology of Scotland, especially Highland geology (Lewisian, Torrodonian, Moine, Dalradian), metamorphic rocks and structural geology. Previously worked at Aberdeen Univ., University College Dublin, Paisley College. Worked on Kola Superdeep Borehole, Arctic Russia. Member of London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Open, Highland geological societies. Served on council of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen geological societies and Irish Geological Association. Author of Geology and Landscapes of Scotland, Dunedin, 2013.
