Biostratigraphical correlation: Inferred to equate with an interval from the base to just below the top of the S. plana Zone of current usage. Woods (1896) proposed the term Hecteroceras reussianum Zone' (after the heteromorph ammonite Hectoroceras [= Hyphantoceras] reussianum) for the interval equivalent to the lower part of the current S. plana Zone that in some areas contains the characteristic fauna of the Chalk Rock.

Lithostratigraphical correlation: Equates with an interval in the lower to middle part of the Lewes Nodular Chalk of southern England.
