Base: Placed between Flint X and Flint W at Sidestrand (Christensen, 1995).
Range of index species: The index ranges through the greater part of the B. lanceolata Zone s.l. of the standard macrofossil zonal scheme, and through the B. lanceolata, B. pseudobtusa and lower B. obtusa zones of Schulz (1979).
Biostratigraphical correlation: Equates with the lower and middle parts of the B. lanceolata Zone s.l.
Lithostratigraphical correlation: Equates with the greater part of the Sidestrand Chalk Member (Christensen, 1995).
Age: Lower Maastrichtian
