Though not a professional geologist or earth sciences graduate I have a strong personal interest in both. My background is IT and Communications followed by a career in industrial corporations (Utilities, Process Industries, and Security) and then operational engagement in large family holdings in the MEA region. I now get asked for advice on projects in the MEA region, where I have lived and worked for 30 years. My primary interests at this time are food and water security which will be the source of or a major contributor to almost all future conflicts. The efforts of private capital to work in these areas while generating employment and security for locals alongside the profit motive is, in my opinion, the fastest route to mitigating the risk of conflicts although there are other regional forces in play.
