Gareth Farr is a hydrogeologist at the British Geological Survey, based in the Cardiff Office. Prior to working for the BGS he worked for Environment Agency Wales for ten years and has extensive knowledge of hydrogeology in Wales. Gareth designed and set up the Water Framework Directive groundwater monitoring network in Wales and has also worked on delineating many source protection zones for public water supplies. Gareth is also interested in the hydrology of wetlands and has worked extensively across Wales on sites ranging from sand dune systems to upland bogs. Recent work includes surveys of the geothermal potential of the South Wales Coalfield and of shallow groundwater systems in the city of Cardiff.
